Brief Introduction: The African Association of Accountants General (AAAG) is a premier organization committed to enhancing public financial management (PFM) across the African continent. AAAG was conceptualized from lessons learned from its predecessor, the East & Southern Association of Accountants General (ESAAG). Thus the AAAG emerged from the collaborative efforts of the five regions of Africa, which recognized the need for a unified organization to serve as a single voice and contact point for PFM governance.
Consequently, the main objective is to unify and strengthen PFM practices by fostering transparency, accountability, and efficiency across Africa’s financial management ecosystem. Thus, the Association which represents the Offices of Accountants General from AU member countries, creates a robust platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and professional development among the Accountants General.
AAAG operates through a well-defined governance framework that promotes diverse and inclusive leadership, ensuring the representation and participation of all member states. The Association has fully transitioned and operates within the framework of approved governance structure. AAAG is hosted by the Ministry of Finance of the Republic Zambia in Lusaka.
